Breaking Down Detroit Pistons Summer League Loss To Indiana

Thoughts on last night’s game, this one will be short and sweet since only 3 (2of which were two-ways) of roster players actually played:

1. Got to start by reiterating whomever made the decision that Killian didn’t need to benefit from this time in the summer league should be fired immediately. This was absolutely a great moment for Killian to be the number one option as we didn’t have one on the court at any time.

2. As expected we saw a lot more of the non roster players, I probably would still liked to see Livers out there, like Killian functioning as the primary scorer to push him to be a little more aggressive as a scorer.

3. Though there wasn’t much to be liked I’m interested to see what Jimmy Behiem does with more minutes, it’s clear both brothers can’t guard a statue but Jimmy at least seems a little less stagnant on offense and defense.

4. I still like what I’ve seen from Moore and Umude, again I don’t see them as roster players but would like to see them on the Cruise for further evaluation.

5. Key and even Duren have shown the value of playing with talent vs playing without. I think Duren tried to be aggressive as a scorer but he’s not there yet, hopefully in a year or two he’ll be able to take over games offensively when he’s added shooting and driving to the basket to his bag.

Overall, it was an expected loss, we played the first two games with mostly only playing roster guys to mostly only playing non roster guys so I knew it was going to be rough. As mentioned I feel like there were perfect opportunities for Killian to gain confidence as a scorer. Also curious as to why Procida is there but not playing, one would think you would want to evaluate him to tell him what he needs to work on when playing overseas.
