This just in. Former DPOY and multi time All Star Center Rudy Gobert is headed to Minnesota in a multi player package that lands the Jazz FOUR future 1st Round draft picks. This will pair Gobert with fellow big man Karl Anthony Towns. The Timberwolves had been planning to move Towns to Power-Forward after a career year from beyond the arc, shooting it from 3 at 41%. The Jazz will also land Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, Leandro Bolmaro in the deal.
This trade certainly cuts into the depth of the Timberwolves that landed them the number 7 slot in last years playoffs, especially at wing; losing both Vanderbilt, and Beasley in the deal. How about shaking it up for the Jazz who was just the number 1 seed in the 2021 playoffs, and made a deep playoff run, and again in 2022 landing the number 5 seed. This breaks up the tandem of Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, and one must wonder is Mitchell next.
This sets a potential Timberwolves starting t to be: D’ Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Taurean Prince, Karl Anthony-Towns, and Rudy Gobert. Pretty solid. A strong move for a West that looking to reload with more talent this 22 offseason.
For the Jazz, one has to wonder is Donovan Mitchell next? Is this the start of a rebuild, and a tank for the 2023 draft trying to land the prized pick Victor Wembanyama. (yeah I spelled it right, the first try. put some REPECT on his name)
